David Wilkerson’s prophecy concerning the economy

A true prophet of God is going to tell you the bad news as well as the good.   Read the following link where he shares what he believes is about to take place in America.  He delivered this on 9/15/08, before the $700,000,000,000 “bailout” that I’m told will cost every taxpayer $8500.

Bottom line: quit living like this is all going to fix itself.  Oh you may say “it won’t happen, not in America.”  However we’ve allowed the government to take over retirement to give us Social Security (which is no good); we fill up stadiums and cheer political candidates that champion to have the government take over healthcare; we nod our heads when government leaders say they want to do something about the oil crisis… I could go on.  We want tax rebates beyond what we pay in, stimulus checks, supposed faith-based intiatives, and for some reason we don’t think about the fact that we are giving something up in order to have this.

I hope we get on our knees and truly seek God on what He would have us do.

  1. I don’t have acomment, anly would like some enlightened news.

  2. there’s a lot going on in the world right now, and I love wilkersons prophecies. It really goes with what God has showed others as well as me. with all the things going on and will come upon the earth , it will give us all an opportunity to talk to others.

  3. I truly believe that God is trying to give His people the opportunity to repent and turn from the wrong direction, get on their knees praying fervently like their life depends on it (because it does) and be in the word like never before. How know how my heart , as a mother, hurts when something happens to my children – I can only imagine how God hurts for His children.

  4. America Repent?

How can America Repent? Really think about that? How will America do that? Stop Abortion? Stop Homosexual Marriage? Stop homosexuality all together? Stop drug abuse, rape, murder, lying, cheating, adultery, divorce, etc..

How many people have to repent before God acknowledges that America has repented? ALL? Half? 10?

How can a nation be judged? God said he would not judge the father for the son’s sin nor the son for the fathers but each will pay for his own sin.

To say America needs to repent how does that look? How can America Repent? Everyone fall on their knees and accept Jesus? That will NEVER happen.

Is America God’s Nation? How can we compare America to National Israel? God sent prophets to HIS PEOPLE the Nation of Israel. They were under God’s Rule as a theocracy. America is not a Theocracy. How can we compare it to Israel?

God does not judge nations anymore he judges individuals. Each man will be accountable for his sin. Shall God judge the wicked along with the Righteous?

If God’s is warning about his Judgment on America why didn’t God warn the Christians in India in Orissa who were attacked by rioting mobs of Hindus who destroy village after village and left them homeless living in relief camps. Many died? Where was the “PROPHET” of God then. Or is God only concerned about America? Why didn’t God warn about the Tsunami? How many Christians were swept away with the wicked in the flood waters? Is God more concerned about America then all those other nations?

It seems there are some theological inconsistencies going on here?

The bible tells us that in the end times men will go from bad to worse. We know that from Scripture. Why would God warn American Christians who for the most part are Carnal, worldly and self seeking and yet fail to warn Christians in Iran where dozens of pastors are being snuffed out by the government.

Why would God spare us when Christians in Darfur starved to death because they would not renounce Christ.

This sounds like an American Arrogant Gospel to me?

I prophesy that riots will break out in America, I prophesy that a major earthquake will hit California, I prophesy a great terrorist attack on US will happen one day.

Anyone can prophesy the obvious. If you just look at the condition of the world you will see that it is only inevitable that riots will happen. Men are growing more evil in their rebellion. But the bible already warned us. There are no more Prophets of the Lord that God sends to nations. That is not Biblical New Testament Christianity. Produce One Scripture where someone in the New Testament was sent to warn a City to Repent or God’s Judgment will fall. They did not do that. They preached the Gospel to all, kings, poor people, slave, free. Paul preached about Judgement to come, but he was speaking about the last day. Iam not going to altar my life because someone is saying that God’s Judgement is about to fall on a city. Where do you see that in New Testament Theology? Jesus did predict the fall of Jerusalem but America is not God’s Nation. The Fall of Jerusalem was part of God’s plan. We cannot go around saying God is going to judge nations that is simply not found in the scriptures. Russia will not stand before God as a nation. Individuals will stand before God for their own sin.

The message of Repentance is the Message of the Gospel. Our Job is to Preach the Gospel and warn people of the Wrath of God to Come. I am sorry but no matter how bad it gets in NYC it is a walk in the park compared to the Wrath of God that will come upon all who will not repent and beleive in the Gospel.

  5. The Bible states that “one day every knee shall bow”….. Romans 14:11
We all fall short of the glory of GOD, everyone.
    All must repent.

  6. Who do we think we are. I’ve circled the globe many times in ministry. Witnessed firsthand true Christianity. One man who came to Christ was certain that martyrdom was his lot. Why? Because true Christians have been called to crucifixition. Not carefree convenience. We have trampled the Cross, spat on Christ, mocked His true messengers and watered down His Word. There is an end to mercy and America has for decades been testing God. He will not be mocked. If it weren’t for His love and patience there would be no hope. This is our moment in history to demonstrate true repentance. Gods judgement on this nation has begun. It will come in stages. The true Bride will be protected. The clean spotless dress, the steadfast eyes on the Groom, her infatuation with Christ alone identified her above the rest. The Lord knows His own. Take heed America to men like David Wilkerson. His words from the Lord are always seasoned with mercy. Time is running out.

  7. Romans 1:21-32 is an excellent description of how God is pouring out His judgement. The sins that we have preached that have brought on the judgement of God actually ARE the judgment of God.

Steve Hill – you have echoed what my Pastor and many other remnant Christians are saying – This Jesus 2.0 or Jesus Lite that is going to help you sav money on your car insurance is not the true Gospel. We have to call sinners back to the message of the cruel, bloody Cross of Christ, which is the only hope for humanity.

I believe Pastor Wilkerson is right by calling America(ns) to repentance, and there needs to be more people proclaiming this message:

    Jeremiah 2:13
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

We have turned from God who is the fountain of living waters, and turned to what we have constructed ourselves (our government, economy, etc) to be our source.

  8. Shalom,
I’m a Messianic Jew living in Sodom, California (San Francisco) and I’ve been giving a similar message for over 3 years now.

My message is different as I am foretelling the destruction of San Francisco and LA, the end times Sodom and Gomorrah by fire and brimstone per the prophecy of Messiah Yeshua in Luke 17:28-37.

I believe this will be fulfilled by the eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera.

So this is close to what Pastor Wilkerson is teaching. I believe he has the wrong coast though.

I’d like to invite you to my blog to read the amazing testimony the Lord has given me in my life.

All glory to the Father and His Holy One, Messiah Yeshua!

  9. God does still judge nations as well as individuals. I cannot say if David Wilkerson is truly inspired or a false prophet preying on peoples’ fears. But I do agree with him that God has judged America. God has also judged her inhabitants and found them far beneath contempt. And so, He will make them suffer sorely before He destroys America…No matter how much the economy might seem to improve between now and late summer, this year will end with worse news than it began with. Pundits and experts will no longer refrain from admitting that America and the remainder of our world’s nations have slipped into a depression–a very deep depression. Next year (2010) will be horrible–like the 1930s crammed into one year. Beware of next year’s season of the Lion (late July through early August). America has never experienced the woes that shall plague her then and America’s proud inhabitants will begin to realize that history has turned against them and their nation. As bad as things will then seem, though, America’s problems will only get worse and worse, and worse, and worse until…In her 237th year, she shall suffer a fatal blow. The wrath of the Great Bear of the North and the Dragon of the East will turn America into a vast wasteland. Before then, social strife, political turmoil, cultural upheval, famines, plagues, floods, hail storms, cyclones, heat waves, conflagrations, droughts, and blizzards will never cease tormenting America’s inhabitants. A multisided civil war will rip her apart–and those peoples of the Earth who love America the most will suffer the most. More than a few nations will fall with her. Russia also will not escape desolation. But China will survive and become more menacing than ever…In the aftermath of America’s death throes, the Antichrist and False Prophet will pick up America’s banner and rally the peoples of Europe to create their Empire of Infamy….

  10. To all of you who doubt that GOD has lifted some of his protection from this country.. I agree that GOD the father does not see his children but he never promissed that there would be no pain for Christians only that we would not have to go through the worst of it for we would be taken up to Heaven long before. But as a nation we elect the people who make the laws and if we continue to elect the men and women that support abortion and do it in God’s name, yes that’s right in God’s name be cause we declare that we are one nation under God!!

  11. I’m not an american, but a believer from Nigeria. What I’d like to say is rather than cruficy Bro Wilkerson, or attempt to rip his message apart, our attitude should be like that of men like the Patriach Abraham, Moses, the prophets and the Lord Jesus – stand in the gap for your nation especially the heathen and governments.

May God help us all to hear what His Spirit is saying for this time.

  12. As a man who uses his heart, and head, my simple senses tell me to be very careful of anyone who claims they’ve heard the voice of God, and or see things that will come to pass. As human nature, we are filled with emotions, and many who see things, or claim they hear things that no others have heard. Why Him, why not something of this mass scale be told by many who love and seek God’s Word daily. Frankly, he puts his pants on the same way I do, and you do. He may need some Litium as far as I know. For I know many who mean well, and many who don’t, but nonetheless, it’s very hurtful to think that a God of Love will sweep away whoever may live in any given area, at any given time, when we ourselves are doing so much damage, the last thing we need I feel, as a thinking human being, would be more suffering. If the souls who have lived well, and the sons and daughters of them souls get in the path of God’s wrath, it seems like anyone in the path could suffer the same fate as any other soul who goes around doing many acts uncompassionate acts. Our we all one big bunch, no one different from the rest? And I have an ultimate Question, who deserves hell, when we never asked for life’s plights to begin with.. Who? We were made for his comfort the bible says, and now many will go to hell some faiths say, just do to their unbeliefs, is that far, and how can someone make themselves believe?

  13. I am a fifty year old missionary in the Philippines and have a Masters degree in OT theology. When I was still in diapers David Wilkerson was leading heroin addicts, prostitutes, pimps, and hard core gang members like Nicky Cruz off the streets of NYC into Christian halfway houses where they learned a new way of life. David made a small fortune on his best-seller “The Cross and the Switchblade” and eventually left his ministry on the streets to retire to a nice ranch in TX. After many years of ministry in more “acceptable” circles he felt God’s urging to return to ministry on the streets of NY, not the typical mid-life decision of a successful evangelist who could have had almost any Pentecostal pulpit in America for the asking.

I followed Wilkerson’s ministry closely in my early Christian years, throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, and listened to many of his sermons, both recorded and in person. I can say that I have never listened to him speak when I have not been deeply challenged to a more devout, disciplined, sacrificial, righteous life in Christ. This is a claim that I can make for no other contemporary Christian evangelist, most of whom are so full of themselves and their TV ministries that they have forgotten what genuine ministry is about.

Wilkerson has always been a no-nonsense, no sugar-coating, tell-it-like-it-is preacher. He has never to my knowledge intentionally led anyone to stray from devotion to the one-true God or His Word (I realize that this in itself does not protect him from the accusation of false-prophet, but stick with me to see where I am going with this.). In short, what I am trying to say is that David doesn’t reflect any of the characteristics of a typical OT false prophet.

Deut. 13, and 18 are the primary passages in the Mosaic Law specifically warning against false prophets leading God’s new people, Israel, away from strict adherence and devotion. One of the things that needs to be kept in mind in both of these passages is the idea of malicious intent with the prophet. Deut. 13 refers to this very specifically, noting that even a prophet whose sayings do come true is not to be followed if that prophet seeks to lead the people away from Yahweh to serve other gods. Understanding the prophet’s malicious intent is key to this passage.

While the concept of malicious intent is more veiled in Deut. 18, it is yet present. Chapter 18:20b says, “or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods”, strongly hinting that the primary injunction here is against willfully false prophets striving to divert God’s tender people from the Law they are receiving from Moses and from devotion to their God.

Regarding the death sentence spoken in this passage on false prophets, homosexuals, witches, and adulterers were likewise to be stoned to death under the Mosaic Law, yet few Christian scholars or pastors would argue that that Law applies to the Christian age where Christ clearly showed his preference for redemption. The Mosaic Law was extremely strict because God’s highest purpose at this time was to create his nation, Israel, through whom He would reveal himself to the world. He understood the grave dangers his new “people” would face and the overwhelming temptations to cave in to the heathen, pagan, polytheistic ways of the nations around them. His Law had to be strict and the punishment severe to urge them continually on. However, as the NT clearly reveals, God is far more interested in redemption than punishment.

The injunctions we find in the OT against false prophets are primarily aimed at protecting God’s people from turning away from the truth we find in God’s Word and from devotion to the one true God. Prophecies of the sort that David Wilkerson may have overzealously misspoken do not fall into those categories. On the contrary they are continually aimed at striving to call this nation to repentance and God’s people to greater devotion.

If Wilkerson is a false prophet it is only in the mildest sense imaginable, hardly characteristic of the false prophets one finds throughout the OT, of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, or the like. This, however, does not mean that he should go unchallenged, because a false prophecy is a false prophecy, no matter how minimal, and should be treated seriously.

I have been in the Philippines for most of the past 20 years and have not followed Wilkerson’s ministry closely. Personally, everything I have known of the man strikes me as a genuine man of God. Therefore, if he has erred in the accuracy of some of his prophecies, I would be much more inclined to label him as a “man-of-God who erred”, than as a “false prophet”, remembering that malicious intent was a major part of what the Deuteronomy passages were condemning.

Most of David’s prophetic writings I have read, “The Vision”, “Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth”, and numerous newsletters, have been vague enough in their projections to discount any possibility of being proved false. However, though somewhat vague, they have proven amazingly accurate, primarily regarding the precipitous decline of American morality.

I attended an “Agape Force” (a Christian youth ministry) convention in Dallas in 1984 at which David Wilkerson was the keynote speaker. In one of the sessions he began speaking about how covens of witches all over the U.S. were making pacts to “pray” for the downfall of Christian leaders who were engaged in adultery and sexual sins. He prophesied that in the coming years Evangelical leaders would begin falling by the score to sexual sins. The next year the pastor of a very large church I am well-acquainted with fell in disgrace to adultery. In 1988 both Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Baker drew national media attention with their sexual escapades. Recently it has been Ted Haggard, and throughout the past twenty years scores of others well-known in their respective denominations.

This, as well as his many prophecies in his books could indeed be simply well-educated guesses. There is nothing truly miraculous about them. Nevertheless, he has been right a great deal more than he has been wrong, and, I reiterate, if he has made prophetic errors, they have been errors on the side of striving to drive men TO God and drive our nation TO God, not away from him, as was always the case with OT false prophets.

But, I am not really interested in sticking up for Dave Wilkerson, that’s God’s job. I honestly haven’t followed his ministry closely enough in recent years to say that I know for sure if the label fits. I find it doubtful, however. What I am far more interested in is knowing what anyone thinks of THIS prophecy from Deuteronomy, “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account” (Deut. 18:18-19).

This prophecy issued from the mouth of God, who declares He will raise up another prophet like Moses, whom the NT identifies as Jesus (Acts 7:37-53). If you have troubles with Wilkerson, forget about him. Ignore him. But what about Peter, John, Paul, and Jesus, who all prophesied essentially the same things as Wilkerson? They may not have spoken of thousands of fires burning throughout NYC, but they did all prophecy of intensely horrific times coming upon a perverted, immoral world in the last days before Christ’s return, and, as God assured Moses, “If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.”

Is Jesus a Prophet worth heeding? What about Peter, Paul, or John? If you want to ignore Wilkerson, fine, but don’t be foolish enough to ignore the “Revelation”, Matthew 24, or 2 Peter 3:1-13, especially verses 3-4, “First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”

Regardless of what he may be wrong about, Wilkerson is dead right about the most important thing. God’s wrath in judgment is coming upon this nation and the whole world. To ignore it is simply to stick one’s head in the sand and pretend all of the “signs” of Matthew 24 are coincidence. God’s wrath may not fall this year. It may not fall within the next five years. The Dow may soar for a short time higher than ever, but judgment is coming. It is nothing to be afraid of, if one truly knows and genuinely trusts Jesus. The Scripture promises God’s miraculous protection upon his children in the day of his wrath. But anyone who doesn’t truly know or trust in Jesus definitely has good reason to fear.

Personally, I expect to see what David has prophesied about thousands of fires burning uncontrollably in NYC, not because I’m convinced he is an infallible prophet, but because eventual judgment is certain to come upon a wicked, God-mocking, nation and city, and because Jesus assured us that these trying times were coming upon all the earth. I don’t, however, intend to live my life in fear or order my priorities and goals around these beliefs. I don’t intend to store up a month’s worth of food, as Wilkerson suggests. It may not be a bad idea, but I’m not going to live my life as though it is about to end. I’m going to live it as though I have forty enjoyable years left until I die of old age. But, I’m going to keep my heart and ears open, close to God, so He can speak to me if I need to change my mind!

  14. Steve, Steve Hill and Scott. You speak truth brothers filled with wisdom that comes from God’s Holy Word. God bless you all.

Saints, let us hold fast to God and His Word and not put outr trust in man but in the Living God who has already warned us to not fear for the perilous times that must come but be of good cheer knowing He has overcome the world.

Watch and pray as Jesus commanded.

  15. Mr. Stuart German,

I admire how you brought every reader on this blog to the same cross road. What will we all do with what Jesus and the Saints of old has said about these times. I to have made similar comments as Pastor Wilkersons, has stated and that with fear and trembling knowing the penalty for deception. My comments are posted at http://www.victoryofthepeople.org.

Now the key comment I share with everyone is Luk 21:36:

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

I recommend we all get a good understand of Luke 21, but verse 36 is special to me in that to be watchful is to be alert, attentive to the instructions of the Lord.

As in the book Amos 3:7, before God does anything he informs his Prophets.

To be prayerful is to declare God’s will as well as receive God’s will. In being watchful and prayerful you will make yourself worthily of escape from certain aspects of the whirlwinds of these times.

Bottom line with the right ear to hear and the heart to obey you will find yourself in the right place and at the right time for God to blessed and keep you in midst of these storms.

God is still broadcasting His words through prophets today, it’s just many are fearful to speak or they are just being ignored as history has shown. So pray for God’s prophets to arise and shine so that His glory may be seen.

    God bless, Tyrone

Act 11:27 And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

Act 11:28 Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

Act 11:29 Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

Act 11:30 This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
